Scott C. Sullivan Elected as a Trustee of the Lincoln Academy of Illinois

Sullivan, a partner with WilliamsMcCarthy LLP, a full-service Illinois-based law firm headquartered in Rockford, was recently elected to serve a six-year term as a Trustee of the Lincoln Academy of Illinois. He will be officially installed to that position at the June 19, 2021 annual meeting to be held on the campus of Illinois State University.

The Lincoln Academy of Illinois is a not-for-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to recognizing contributions made by living Illinoisans. Named for Abraham Lincoln, the Academy administers the Order of Lincoln, the highest award given by the State of Illinois.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”9084″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Each year several persons are selected as Lincoln Laureates at a ceremony presided over by its president, the Governor of Illinois. The organization gives an annual Student Laureate award to one student from each four-year degree-granting institution of higher learning in Illinois, plus one student from the state’s community colleges. Prominent Illinoisans who have received the Order of Lincoln include:

Gwendolyn Brooks, Studs Terkel, Jim Lovell (Apollo 13 astronaut), Roger Ebert, Walter Payton, Scott Turow, Archbishop Fulton J Sheen, Newton Minow, Michael Beschloss, Ronald Reagan, George Will, Hillary Clinton and Michael Krzyzewdki (“Coach K”).

“For more than forty years the Lincoln Academy has honored individuals connected to Illinois, whether by birth or residence, who have made outstanding contributions to the betterment of humanity. These individuals are named Laureates of the Academy and receive the Order of Lincoln, the State of Illinois’ highest award,” shared Sullivan. “I am pleased to be part of an organization that advances the values exhibited in the life of Abraham Lincoln: excellence, service, and honor.”
