We are pleased to announce that Associate Daniel A. Huntley received the 2018 Habitat Hero Award from Habitat for Humanity Illinois. He received the award for the pro-bono services he provides to the Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity.

Dan was one of 14 individuals receiving the award and the only individual awarded in the “Pro-Bono” category. Each year, Habitat for Humanity Illinois, the state support organization, accepts nominations to recognize outstanding volunteer efforts. Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Keri Nelson nominated Huntley.

“Since Dan first started donating his legal service in 2015, he has documented and closed nearly 25 loans, all on a pro-bono basis,” said Nelson. “Dan takes what could easily be an intimidating experience for our borrowers and turns it into a process that is relaxed, fun and understandable. He has saved our organization thousands of dollars, which means we have been able to invest more back into our program.”

“I am humbled to have received the recognition from Habitat for Humanity,” said Huntley. “I thoroughly enjoy working with local families and helping to make their dreams become a reality. I look forward to continuing to serve Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity for many years to come.”

In addition to home closings, Huntley also volunteers his time for other legal needs, including deeds, land purchase transactions, drafting documents and more.
