A father himself, WilliamsMcCarthy LLP Attorney Daniel Huntley, knows first-hand how important it is for every child to have a safe and stable place to live – a place they can call home. That’s why he has dedicated the past 3 years volunteering for the Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity to help families who are ready to make a life-changing commitment to become homeowners.

Huntley serves as one of the organization’s legal counsel, handling many of its land transactions – home closings for families, land purchases and deeds. Over the years, he has volunteered both his time and expertise, most recently with home closings that took place on April 13 in Rockford.

“Dan helps our families to easily understand the complexities that come along with home closings and in the process uses his humor to calm their nerves,” said Keri Nelson, executive director with Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity. “He’s willing to drop everything to answer questions and is quick to let us know what’s in our best interest. We think of Dan as family – and we certainly couldn’t do this work without him.”

“The impact of safe and stable housing ripples outward into all areas of these families’ lives, and its why I am so proud to help Habitat for Humanity with its legal needs” said Huntley. “I look forward to continuing my relationship with this great organization.”

That’s why he is committed to dedicating more of his legal knowledge to the Habitat for Humanity of Ogle County. In the coming months, he will be helping even more area families become homeowners through overseeing their home closings.

Habitat for Humanity selects families based on their need for adequate housing, ability to make affordable mortgage payments, and willingness to become partners in the program.

Huntley, an attorney at WilliamsMcCarthy LLP, concentrates his practice in corporate law, real estate law, estate and trust law, and agribusiness.
